Hotpoint is one of the longest-standing names in Irish laundries, and Dublin homes are full of them: freestanding front loader models under kitchen counters, machines in utility rooms in the suburbs, and Hotpoint washer-dryers in apartments. Indesit is Hotpoint sister brand in the same group, and the two share platforms, pumps, locks and electronics, so if your machine says Indesit on the front, this page is for you as well. Our washing machine repair in Dublin engineers repair both badges every week.
Hotpoint and Indesit models in Dublin homes
The NSWM and NM11 ranges are the modern Hotpoint staples, with anti-stain programmes aimed squarely at family laundry: grass, food and work dirt on clothes that need proper stain removal, not just a rinse. Older Aquarius and Aqualtis models are still going strong in plenty of houses, and Aqualtis machines with their bigger drums are worth keeping. Indesit Innex and My Time models are common in rented homes and starter apartments because they were keenly priced, and they respond well to straightforward repairs. Across all of them, the pattern of faults is consistent and well understood.
F05 - the Hotpoint drain fault
F05 means the machine thinks it still has water in the drum. The two usual causes are a blocked pump filter or failed drain pump, and a pressure switch or its thin air tube blocked with detergent sludge and soap residue. Start with our guide to Hotpoint error F05, which covers the filter check. Hair, coins, hair grips and small socks are the usual filter finds. If the machine drains when tested but F05 still shows, the pressure system needs cleaning or the switch replacing. Left alone, F05 leaves clothes sitting in dirty water, which breeds germs and that sour smell no detergent seems to shift.
F01 - the board fault
F01 points to the main electronic control board, often a failed triac on the board. Symptoms vary: a dead machine, a drum that will not turn, random stops, or lights behaving oddly. Board faults need proper testing, because a failed motor or lock can sometimes mimic a board problem. We test the components the board drives first, then quote for board repair or replacement with the full range shown on our Dublin repair costs page. Honest diagnosis matters here more than anywhere, because board work sits at the top of the price range.
Everyday Hotpoint wear and tear
Beyond the codes, Hotpoint and Indesit machines come to us with worn door locks that stop the cycle starting, perished door seals that leak onto the kitchen floor, snapped drive belts that leave the drum still while the motor whirs, and heating elements scaled up in harder water areas. Parts of Dublin normally supplied by Leixlip, around 200 mg/L, scale elements noticeably faster than the soft-water south on Ballymore Eustace at around 50 mg/L. Belts and locks are quick, economical fixes. Seals take a little longer but transform a leaky machine.
Parts reality in Ireland
This is where Hotpoint and Indesit shine. Because the brands share so much, pumps, belts, locks, seals, elements and pressure switches are cheap, plentiful and kept in stock, and we carry the common ones on the van. Boards for current models are available; boards for very old models occasionally need sourcing from EU stock. Under the EU Right to Repair, applying in Ireland from 31 July 2026, parts must be kept available for five to ten years and prior independent repair cannot be held against you.

- Door lock / interlock: EUR110 to EUR160
- Door seal / gasket: EUR130 to EUR200
- Heating element: EUR140 to EUR200
- Drum bearings: EUR250 to EUR400+
- Motor or main control board: EUR250 to EUR450+
Typical Dublin ranges checked November 2026, with your fixed price confirmed after diagnosis and before work, and the call-out fee stated when you book. Because parts are good value, a Hotpoint or Indesit is worth repairing for most faults even at eight to ten years old, set against EUR419 to EUR999+ for a new machine. Bearings plus a board on the same old machine is where we will usually steer you to replacement. In rented property, Regulation 7 of the Housing (Standards for Rented Houses) Regulations 2019 puts the washing machine on the landlord, so report faults early through your letting agent. Indesit machines: the other half of the family
Half the machines this page is really about say Indesit on the front. Indesit Innex and My Time models were fitted in Dublin rentals, starter apartments and house-shares in big numbers, and in a rented home they work hard, load after load. None of that changes the repair story, because Indesit and Hotpoint sit on the same Whirlpool-group platform and share pumps, locks, belts and boards across most models.
The codes are shared too. An Indesit showing the drain fault behaves exactly like the Hotpoint F05 — filter, pump or the pressure system — and a board fault follows the Hotpoint F01 pattern, so read those two pages as your Indesit code pages as well. Parts prices stay low for the same reason: one part serves two badges. Drain pump €149–€199, heating element €179–€249, majors €279–€420, prices checked November 2026. Call-out is €79, credited in full, and if the machine is not worth fixing you pay only that, with the verdict in writing. Landlords: this is the rental fleet — a pump repair today is cheaper than a replacement and a tenancy argument tomorrow. Ring 645 465-6305.
